Macaw stolen from safari park recovered in Gazipur

A macaw that was stolen from Gazipur Safari park was recovered by police today.
“One of the two stolen birds was found from the area around the safari park today around 2:00pm, under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Nazmul,” Joynal Abedin Mondal, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station told The Daily Star. He added that efforts are underway to rescue the other bird.
Two green-winged macaws were stolen from the Gazipur Safari Park in Mauna Union, Sreepur, last Friday, said Safari Park authorities and police.
Following a complaint by wildlife inspector Raju Ahmed, one bird was rescued today.
The OC said police are investigating the source and working to catch the thief. Attempts to reach Gazipur Safari Park Assistant Conservator Rafiqul Islam were unsuccessful.
